For the most part managing remote staff, no matter how far away they are, is similar to having in-office staff if not easier. A majority of developers are used to agile methodologies, meaning they’ve used project management tools. As long as you keep those tools updated, they will know what to do and when it’s due.
The biggest difference is the method of communication. You will be communicating on one of many team chat applications. Organization-wise, agile methodologies are the usual go-to for developers, so online Scrum or Kanban boards can be the way you keep your team organized and on schedule.
Your staff can work at any time you’d like them to. This means that when recruitment is given your requirements, the schedule you’d like them to work is set, as getting people to be interested in a job without a shift decided is a challenge. For most jobs, you’d want your remote staff to be on the same shift as you. Certain jobs can get away with only a couple of hours overlapping while the rest of the time has them working autonomously.
Managing remote staff is made easy with our internal team. Our account managers, HR, and IT staff handle all of the administrative tasks that come with hiring staff. This is done so that you are able to focus solely on the operational side of your staff, leaving you with more time to focus on what directly affects your business and its success.
Application developers cover a wide range of developers. When looking for app developers it is important that you state what language and other technologies you’ll need your developer to know. The developer talent pool is saturated with a wide variety of languages and technology proficiencies. If you don’t specify what you’re looking for you’ll have a very wide range of developers to look through. From frontend developers who work on everything the users interact with, backend developers who configure the technology in order for everything to run. For the most part, with app developers, you will have people who have mobile app development experience, computer app development, or in some rare cases both. Typically once they specialize they tend to stick to it. They also tend to work on a specific operating system, for example, iOS vs Android or Windows vs Mac, though with newer and better tools some app developers can do multiple operating systems at once.
Training is usually not necessary as your newly hired remote developer will be well versed in whatever technologies you need. However if you ever need them to learn new languages or new tech, that can be done over a period of time so that they are ready for when the new tech or processes is rolled out.
Automation developers or automation engineers help minimize or eliminate the need for human or manual input for certain tasks. A majority of automation developers will have an IT or computer science degree. The experience on their resumes will consist of a variety of tech jobs with a majority of them doing quality assurance. Outliers would include automation engineers who have years of real-world experience but no formal schooling.
In terms of tools, developers are unlike most positions in a remote staffing company. Usually, the requirement in terms of software and languages used is a requirement and not a recommendation. This being the case, training is only needed if you plan on moving your team to a new language or if you plan on using new tools. There have been instances where people have paid training for their developers, along with learning a new skill this promotes professional development within your remote staff and helps with lower turnover rates.

All businesses have documents that need to be digitized or checked, data encoders are the solution. The experiences you see on their resumes will be split between prior experience with similar data entry or data encoding positions and people who are new to the remote staffing industry. The people who are new will have jobs in almost every industry, with a majority of them being blue-collar jobs. The key skills to look for are attention to detail, analytic skills, and good typing speed.
The scheduling for this position works similarly to customer service representatives if documents need to be input and updated in real-time. If the documents don’t have a strict time frame attached to them, then you can have your data encoders work on any schedule you desire. If you have decided to employ an entire team, they could work on separate schedules or any configuration you need them to.
In terms of training and tools, the experienced hires will just need to be familiarized with the company through onboarding and given a short walkthrough of how your process works. Fresh graduates will need a more detailed training session in regards to everything they’re going to be doing.
Software developers, like application developers, cover a wide range of developers with many branching job paths. The resumes you will see for these positions are similar in the fact that they would have graduated with a computer science degree or will have real-world experience already. Everyone with experience should have a portfolio or a project list you can view to see what their work is like. You might want to create a developer test to sort candidates, sometimes the better candidates are those who learned to code themselves and are tried and tested in a work environment as opposed to those who went to school but have no real experience.
Software developers can work any shift you give them. Ideally, they overlap with the rest of the team or are on the same working schedule. You could also go with an hourly model or contractual if you don’t foresee needing a developer to help maintain a program they built.
Training for all software developers is generally the same. You hire people who can do the job with your specific technologies and whenever a new project needs different or new tech, they can take 1 to 2 weeks to learn and use the new technology. Of course, even after that, there is a learning period, but generally, with the syntax of some languages being similar, it shouldn’t be that hard for seasoned developers.
No matter the job, remote staffing centers will give you the quality you need at a cost-effective price. Tech jobs are financially taxing on start-up companies, but they are a necessity. If there is a job you don’t see listed, feel free to contact us and we’d be more than happy to work something out.
